What Would he Colonel Say?

Always with my ear to the ground for a new story, a friend of mine mentioned eating at KFC and made the comment that the honey isn't honey, anymore.  Being the diligent journalist I am, and wanting to maintain the integrity of reporting true news, I went to the KFC nutrition PDF site.  Sure enough, there is now "honey sauce."  I've included the link below.

This is not to pick on KFC exclusively, as there have been many reports of fast food mystery ingredients, and KUDOS to KFC for publishing all this.  I did find it interesting that the only three items on the menu that didn't have a list of ingredients was corn, lettuce, and tomatoes, but corn is no longer in it's created state, it just doesn't require labeling.  I read that tomatoes were actually the first GMO experiment on record, and I didn't research the lettuce.  I don't know the full history of commercial tomatoes, but the record stands pretty clear regarding corn.

As I read the ingredient lists for all the menu items, I was so saddened.  I am old enough I remember the Colonel advertising his secret spices that made his chicken so good.  Now the PDF indicates the original recipe is still a secret, but many of the ingredients listed also seem rather mysterious.

Second Generation

We all pretty much know, already what happens when anything becomes a second generation product.  The quality changes.  Throughout history, with technological advancements, the product has been enhanced.  Also throughout history, often the bottom line becomes the focus and the quality is diminished.

Now we have second generation GMOs.  Technology and money as the focus is not a promising combination in the area of food.  When it comes to food, nutrition and sustainable integrity of the plant could be a great combination, but there is no indication that is the direction.

I would urge everyone reading this article to consider two things.  GMO crops have yet to be proven to not be harmful and once a plant is genetically modified, it is forever changed, with indication, the GMO is dominant over unaltered plants.  The other things to consider is the government food programs.  Giving people just enough vouchers to purchase food that factory processed is not providing nutrition, either.

We are quickly heading to the point of ingesting and consuming Non-food substances.  There will be no nutritional value in that for our bodies, and we have no idea the damage non-food substances will do in our bodies that were  intricately designed by our Creator.

Regulations for Feeding Swine

In my attempt to verify this information, I went to the USDA website, but it's closed right now over the shutdown.

Although the USDA allows growth hormone to be fed to beef and sheep, it forbids growth hormone in poultry and swine.  There are numerous articles affirming arsenic added to poultry feed, as well as scientifically altering chickens, such as featherless, and increased sizes, but it's referred to as natural selection, not genetic modification.

I've noticed this on several sites and many grocery stores have obviously realized the value of "living high on the hog."  Pork is filling the meat cases, as well as the recommendations from many natural websites, due to the stringent regulations.

Please keep in mind, regardless of regulation, what our Creator has called unclean, doesn't change with USDA regulation.  On the other hand, we humans can bring filth to what YHWH has called clean.

OTC - Teething Medication

What are we giving our children?

http://www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/news/20110505/fda-warns-about-teething-medication

My granddaughter told me my little great granddaughter was teething and uncomfortable.  She asked grandma if there was something natural I could come up with.  I'm always up for a new challenge, but this was no ordinary request.  I cannot stand to see babies uncomfortable, so I hit the Google to see what was in the commercial products.

The link above is frightening enough just with the main ingredient, but I also discovered dyes, chemicals I cannot pronounce, and saccharin, of all things . . . I have a rule of thumb, when it comes to chemicals that are difficult to pronounce or beyond my pronunciation skills.  Anything that does not come out of my mouth, should not go in my mouth!
